The Peak 2054-CIL series measuring microscopes are equipped with coaxial as well as lateral illumination. Frequently it is not possible to positively identify surface structures with lateral illumination, particularly on chrome-plated, reflective surfaces. Inspection is only possible when the light comes directly through the lense. The 2054-CIL with standard base is available with a magnification factor of 40x. In combination with the MST tripod use of the 2x lens is also possible. On rollers the microscope should always be used with the MST tripod. The additional lateral illumination allows, for example, inspection and measurement of halftone dots in printed matter.

The optical system is identical with the 2034 and 2054 series stand microscopes. The base is aluminium and is not available as an acrylic base. The 2054 series microscopes differ from the 2034 series in that they have an aluminium base and a modified focussing mechanism. Focussing is accomplished by moving the tube axially with a rack-and-pinion drive. See related products on the right for accessories.
